Peugeot will reveal the hot GTI variable from Supermini Electric E-208 on the eve of the LE MANS race 24 hours next month.
The brand confirmed that its opponent has long been in the A290, which was officially confirmed by Peugeot Favi coach earlier this year, on June 13. He did not give any details, but he says he will be “the fun of driving, graceful, strong – designed to provide an unforgettable driving experience.”
This will be the first GTI model since the previous generation PEUGEOT 308 came out in 2021 and the first pure sports car in Peugeot.
Speaking to the media recently, Fafi said: “I am in a situation that allows me to make sure that we will re-present GTI to the E-2018 as soon as possible. We have made a decision that Peugeot GTI will be re-submitted.”
He added that it is a “sign” about “what it means to reconnect to our past and our history” and that it would link French road cars with their participation in motorsport – especially the World Upload Championship, which includes 9×8 Hypercar.
“We want to continue to care for the brand’s reputation to drive sensations and the fact that our cars produce certain driving sensations, either as a driver or as a person driving in the car,” said Favi.
For a wider GTI assortment or sports model with a combustion engine, Favey suggested that it will depend on customer notes.
He said: “We will start with 208 and [are] Certainly listen to your inputs, or what our customers will say too.
“We do not rule out that there may be other executions of 208 GTI under GTI, but for today there is nothing planned in this sense.”
The assertion of the return of the GTI badge comes after Favi said he considered it one of his first jobs since she took the position of PEUGEOT CEO in February.
