The new Charger Daytona EV, which Dodge confirmed last month lacked this feature but didn’t explain why, will finally arrive at dealers this week. Those who are upset by the lack of a combustion engine in the model should be patient. The combustion-powered Charger Sixpack, which McAlear said will serve as the model’s entry point, will arrive next year. The brand will also continue to produce a 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 and a 6.2-liter supercharged engine in 2025 for the Durango SUV, but Dodge hasn’t made any announcements about future engines after that.
McAlear didn’t reveal much about what we can expect in the Chargers’ future. However, he said people should look at what the company has done with the Charger and Challenger over the past decade. The Charger initially launched with a choice of two V-6 engines and a pair of Hemi V-8s, serving as the Hellcat and Demon models that define the brand today for many enthusiasts.
