Both variants feature a “leather-inspired” back panel and a competitive specifications list considering the $399 price point, although they may include some undesirable bloatware.

The 2025 Moto G Stylus (Motorola appears to have removed 5G from the model name) boasts a chip upgrade to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, replacing the Gen 1 found in last year’s model. Motorola asserts that this enhancement results in a “6.4x improved responsiveness” compared to its predecessor. Another significant improvement is the full IP68 rating for water resistance, a step up from the merely water-repellent designs of previous models, which is noteworthy for a phone in this price range. Additionally, the device retains a headphone jack for wired audio, a feature that many users appreciate. The large 6.7-inch display is an OLED panel capable of a 120Hz refresh rate and features a slightly enhanced resolution of 2712 x 1220. The primary camera is equipped with a Sony Lytia 50-megapixel sensor, while the 13-megapixel ultrawide camera also supports macro photography. The phone is powered by a robust 5,000mAh battery, offering up to 68W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. It operates on Android 15 out of the box and includes options for 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage.

With strong water resistance, wireless charging, and vibrant color choices, this model seems to fulfill a long-standing wish list for midrange smartphones. However, I have previously faced disappointments with midrange Motorola devices. While I have not experienced literal issues, I have often found myself let down by infrequent software updates and the presence of bloatware.

The Motorola G Stylus 2025 will be available unlocked starting April 17th for $399, with distribution through all three major U.S. carriers.
