What’s new in the Kia EV9 2025?
After its debut last year, the EV9 has seen minor modifications. Luxurious second-row seating is now limited to the top GT-Line model, while most versions now include a sunroof.
The EV9 has a bold, playful design that begins with a traditional Telluride-like side profile. It’s full of fun lighting details, panel sides, big wheels, and countless paint color options. It’s simpler inside, with a modern but not overdone look and seating for six or seven passengers.
Kia offers three powertrain settings. The standard range pokey has a single rear-mounted electric motor with just 215 horsepower which provides an estimated range of 230 miles. The Long Range version adds 74 miles of range and a more powerful electric motor for improved acceleration. The top three trim levels add another engine that gives them all-wheel drive and snappier response. The GT-Line version can reach 60 mph in about five seconds, which is quite fast for a nearly 6,000-pound SUV so equipped. All models accelerate quietly and boast an impressive ride, although they are far from sporty. Its long wheelbase provides a stable ride at highway speeds. The EV9 leans into corners and generally handles like a large SUV; Don’t expect Tesla Model It’s not about towing either, although it can weigh up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped.
It’s a spacious, family-oriented car with amazing front seats and a roomy second row. The third row can handle adults for shorter periods. Cargo space is great even with the third-row seats upright. Innovative and fun interior materials made from recycled pieces add some character inside the EV9, although no version feels as luxurious as its pricing suggests. (And again, electric cars like this one are often discounted.)
EV9s have performed well in IIHS crash tests. All models feature the kind of collision-avoidance technology we’d expect from a car like this, including front and rear automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, and active lane control. Hands-free highway assistance is also included.
