Design a big deal in BMW. The iconic sermon such as kidney networks, Kinks Hofmeister, and Maid-Headlights are the ones that dominate each model in the collection. But those days are in the past – this is what we learned in a quick interview with three of the biggest BMW design names in the game today. We join Adrien Van Huwaidonk, Maximilian Missoni, and Oliver Hellmer to learn more about the status of the BMW in 2025.
Say goodbye to the “classic” design; You will not miss it
Adrian Van Huidonk may not need an introduction, but we will do this anyway. He is the director of design at BMW and was more than fifteen years ago. So, he is a man who knows something about the “classic BMW design” shape. When asked if we still have BMWS with a “classic” design, Adrian did not remove the words: “No, we won’t do it. Neue Klasse is a starting point for change in our typical language,” he said. “Not only electric cars, but also combustion cars.”
Regarding the design, Adrian feels that the only way to develop is to continue to “move forward”. It is believed that New Class is a big jump. “You will see in Neue Klasse a very new design, I think. Just as we skip one generation, we jump one generation. This is what I think it will be.” All this is done without giving up the old BMW DNA, although: “You can follow it to our heritage”, it begins. “You can follow it again to BMW 1800 of the sixties. This is the BMW philosophy in short. We remain honest with where we come, but we always continue to move forward.”
Max Missoni is already looking forward, but he remembers the past
Maximilian Missoni is the latest face here. Supervising the design of the upper limb from the BMW collection, from the 5 series to the ALPINA models. At least part of the reason for its existence here is Neue Klasse. One of the reasons that made me join the company [is] “Because I understood that there is this courage to re -imagine what the classic BMW design might be, there are other old brands that are not courageous when it comes to this,” he said. As a reminder, Missoni comes from Polestar, where his hand was in the form of the brand design language that we know today.
Missoni had a lot to say about the place where electricity and design intersect. You may remember a time when all Evs seemed completely different from everything on the road. He does, too. “There was an effort to say,” hey, look at me. I am electrician. I am different. “But I think we all now see that this was not a very sustainable type of approach.” “The general track is towards electrification, and there, a good design for cars is a good design for cars.”
M Design still focuses performance
Oliver Heilmer is a Missoni for the entry level, as it oversees the design of the model to the X3 and 3 series. But it also leads the BMW M. We asked: How will you deal with Neue Klasse designs? “I think, for M, we always come from this perspective [design] He talks about performance, “says:” All we do with regard to design … works to improve the performance of these same cars, regardless of the driving train. He says that regardless of the driving group, “the M car is still.”
How Speedtop has been made
Brake Shooting Brake is a very beautiful car, and its limited production occupies some asking how it was made in the first place. “The idea started from the design department,” Adrian Van Huwaidonk begins. But he did a balance from there. “You need to involve some departments from the large company to ensure that the car is driving like BMW … no He became involved, because then it becomes slow and complicated.
There are other benefits to do special compounds like this as well. Halo cars make the entire brand more ambitious. “I think the entire key is that they know this is a very special occasion, and that doing something in the limited number helps our organization not to become satisfied, not to become excessively, or automatic, like a machine,” says Howidonk. “Since it is not a machine on the other side, there are real people on the other side, customers.” Apparently, most of the Speedtop customers who are well assumed have never cared about the price. “Most of them have never asked me what I cost him. They only said,” I want it, “Adrian says.
Neu Klasse IX3 is four months away – but there is still a job to do
Finally, it might seem surprising, but BMW is not completely finished with the car they launch in just four months. The “last stage of manufacturing” is still ongoing, which mainly constitute the user interface modifications and UX to ensure the delivery of “product on a point”. We have heard about cramming, but this is ridiculous. We hope that the Polish appears when we finally take a rotation in the Neue Klasse vehicles
