After a long wait, Apple has finally launched its most advanced technologies in the car so far, CarPlay Ultra, which represents a big step forward in the integration of the smartphone. The first automotive of the next generation system is only the latest Aston Martin models, with an expansion of other auto manufacturers including Hyundai, KIA and Genesis on the horizon. There is no word about BMW that adopts this technology yet, but in 2022, they said they have no plans to implement it.
What is CarPlay Ultra?
CarPlay Ultra depends on the current Apple Carplay but takes it to a completely new level by integrating with all screens inside the car – not just the central touch screen. This includes completely digital tool groups, as drivers usually see speed, RPM, fuel levels and other vital information.
Using CarPlay Ultra, drivers can display mobility in Apple Maps, operation of controls, and managing major vehicle settings such as climate control, drivers assistance systems, and performance patterns – all of this from a uniform Apple interface. Drivers can interact through the lists that appear on the screen, Siri Voice orders, or even the use of iPhone user interface devices that were displayed directly on the car screens to quickly reach the evaluation, weather and more dates.
What distinguishes CarPlay Ultra is from the profound customization of each car brand. For example, Aston Martin features a unique CarPlay interface that corresponds to luxury aesthetic, mixing the Apple program experience with the brand identity.
The launch begins with Aston Martin
CarPlay Ultra is now available to order Aston Martin, Vantage, DB12 and Vanquish models in the United States and Canada. Apple says technology will expand to Aston Martin compounds worldwide for the next twelve months. For those who already own Aston Martin compatible, free software update will be available soon through local agents, bringing CarPlay Ultra to cars already on the road.
Hyundai, Kia, and Takiba are the following
While Aston Martin gets early uniqueness, Apple confirmed that Hyundai, Kia and Genesis are actively working on carplay Ultra in future vehicles. No official timetable has been announced yet, leaving many major customers wondering about the time they will have to wait.
Interestingly, Porsche was among the brands shown in early presentations from CarPlay, but Apple did not refer to the German sports car maker in its latest press release.
BMW position is still unclear

Although BMW has not been included among the official Apple launch partners today, the upcoming IDrive X – which for the first time in BMW IX3 and Neue Klasse models later this year – destroys another layer of conspiracies.
IDrive X of BMW offers panoramic vision, a high -tech drop -off system that extends to the base of the windshield. However, reports indicate that this screen, along with the BMW display, may only work with the original BMW content, which reduces functions with third -party systems such as CarPlay and Android Auto.
It remains to see whether BMW will open these new facades to CarPlay Ultra. Looking at the history of BMW because it is early for adoption, industry observers expect the brand to finally offer a superchus Carplay, but it is likely to be with some brand restrictions.
