The new CarPlay Ultra from Apple is finally here, brings a more immersive version of the car interface to the car to production vehicles. But if you are a BMW driver in the hope of getting it any time, do not dely. “BMW currently has no plans to integrate Apple CarPlay Ultra,” BMW AG spokesman confirmed this week.
This repeats what the company said again in 2022, when Apple inspected the next generation program for the first time. Although BMW initially listed as a partner in the future, the company did not change the path.
What is already changing CarPlay Ultra
Unlike the standard version of CarPlay, which is limited to the main information and entertainment screen, CarPlay Ultra extends through all the car screens-including a set of tools, a head screen, and even passenger side screens. Drivers are also allowed to control vehicle functions such as climate, media and navigation fully through the Apple interface. Siri Voice orders, Apple maps at speed, and custom customers are all part of the package. Aston Martin is the first automobile industry company, with others like Hyundai, Kia and Genesis is expected to follow.
Why do you say BMW no

Instead of incorporating CarPlay Ultra, it is claimed that BMW focuses on its operating system – IDrive X. The system will first lead in the new BMW IX3 and spread in all future Neue Klasse models. IDrive X includes a feature called Panoramic Display, which displays information along the lower edge of the windshield. It is designed to be part of the entire original BMW environment, tightly integrated with the brand and user dramatic design.
This level of integration is likely to be one of the reasons why BMW does not adopt the deepest Apple acquisition on the display in the car. As of now, third-party platforms like CarPlay and Android Auto will remain available as limited-they are recorded on the main screen.
Who supports CarPlay Ultra?
During BMW’s exit, here is the current list of car manufacturers that are still planning to support CarPlay Ultra starting from July 2025:
- Acura
- Aston Martin
- Ford
- Genesis
- Honda
- Hyundai
- Infiniti
- Jaguar
- Kia
- Land Rover
- Lincoln
- April
- Porsche
BMW is not listed on the list, and based on the company’s last statement, it will not join any time soon.
