I mean, there are a lot of amazing cars to choose from. I must say, given back, the original TT was the car that made me come to Audi in the first place.
I was a student at the time and remember that I was thinking “Wow, how can you design a car like this?” But it was more than just a car. The reduction. cleanliness. The cold. Inspiration Bauhaus. For me it was in the middle of the road between car design and product design, and this really surprised me. My style was completely and to this day I loved it.
But thinking about VorsPrung Durch Technik specifically, there were many cars that defended innovation. Audi A2, for example. This car was truly smart in its design. She had a great imprint: really small from the outside, really large from the inside. It was also an incredibly and very light -weight air dynamic – something we can more and more in the era of electricity.
Then there was A6 AllROAD, a personal favorite for me. This was a response to the increasing demand for SUVs in the excellent market, and at that time Audi had no SUV. Therefore, Audi decided to do its best, the most diverse and integrate with the features that buyers are searching for in SUVs: off -road capacity, chunky design and a higher driving position. For me, it is still one of the greatest cars that Audi has ever made and a clear example of Technik vorsprung Durch thinking.
The electrical movement has changed the game to design cars. What are the advantages? What are the defects? How is this Audi overcoming?
This is a question that we are trying to answer for 15 years, since the design of cars began to divide between regular combustion cars and electric cars.
Initially, we all said “horror!” The large and integrated engine has disappeared, so we thought it would give us more freedom to design how exactly we want. But it did not turn this way.
However, let’s start with the benefits. First, the additional weight of electric cars means that large wide wheels are needed to carry everything, and designers love large wheels. Second, since the batteries are in the middle of the car, this means that the wheels can be pushed into every corner, which means a shorter accumulation. Now, Audi’s design has been about its long -haul possession, but this shift in artistic design has given us some exciting opportunities in the design department, especially when it comes to finding the ideal proportions of the car.
