It is a strange time to be a hot opening. The classic formula – internal combustion riot, is calm, has been replaced by a new wave of electric performance cars looking to pick up the flame. The Alps did this with the excellent A290. Abarth gave it well with 500E. Now, it’s a mini role.
Mini John Coper Mini 2025, internally known as J01, represents a historical history first: JCW badge on a small battery slot. Built on a different platform from the gasoline F66 JCW, the J01 itself must fix more than just a straight line statistics. This is where things become complicated.
The same position JCW, a different spirit
At first glance, you are struggling to tell JCW Electric, regardless of his brother’s brother. Upclose, you will notice more aerodynamic and sporty interface to A-Pillar. Of course, there are familiar design signals for Mini: an aggressive front and rear bumps, red brake foil, bold rear spoiler, and red accents available. Battery, range and shipping
JCW Electric uses a 54.2 kW battery (49.2 kW useless) and quotes the WLTP group of 251 miles. It is likely to give it leadership in the real world-especially vibrant-a lower scope. However, it is respectful for the part and the best you can do with the BMW battery chemistry. Certainly, the Gen6 battery and automotive technology will improve Cooper electricity more. Rapid charging allows up to 95 kW to an increase of 10-80 % in 31 minutes. It takes about 11 kilowatts to charge AC about 5.5 hours for full charging.
It was one of the quiet, but important tire design. Mathematical frames usually increase rolling resistance, which reduces the EV range. Engineers had to achieve a balance between fist and efficiency.
Judgment: Near, but not completely
There is a lot you like about the first JCW electric in Mini. The design exists, the interior is useful for its part, and the performance statistics appear strong on the paper and on the road. A reasonable price at 41,250 euros in Germany.
But it is not after the electrical revolution that we were hoping. The torque is very aggressive, and the convenience of the passes can be improved while it is difficult to hide completely in a small car like the J01. However, it is a first noble attempt. If the Mini is able to improve the suspension adjustment and possibly explore adaptive residue in a future version, the following JCW Electric may be the next great engine.

The 2012 Mini JCW Electric (J01) represents an exciting leap, if it is incomplete, to the brand’s malicious performance. It provides a sharp look, immediate torque and a real hot Hatch character – but not without a compromise. Although it is faster than the gasoline and more comfortable f66 JCW, the additional weight and the aggressive torque directly detracts from its polishing. The internal quality impresses, signing the mini -taste is intact, but limited operations and ride ventilation may start daily drivers. The first bold effort shows the promise – not the revolution that some had hoped.
