Slate unveiled its inexpensive electrical truck to the fans last night. It is an interesting vehicle, capable of converting into a small four -seat SUV to pull people instead of goods. If we judge the common comments during the first time, we doubt that many potential Slate customers are largely interested in shipping.
This leads us to the eternal scale of the truck’s ability as the spine. Can the list of 4 -feet sheet of plywood? The simple answer is yes. But there is a little more than that.

During the appearance of Slate EV for the first time, the company said that the bed will carry a “full sheet of plywood”. This is a standard 4×8 standard, with the maximum beneficial load capacity of 1,433 pounds, the truck can carry a good number. The minimum bed width is 50.0 inches, wide enough to accommodate a wide piece of wood with 4 feet (48 inches), so that it is achieved.
Here is the place where things become a little more complicated. The length of the bed is five feet on the nose. This is 60 inches, less than a standard piece of plywood. So you will not transfer it with the back door without all the accumulated types. Drop the gate and the bed stretches to 81.6 inches, which equals 6.8 feet. This is also not long enough to support a large sheet of plywood, but this is not a big problem. Most of the trucks of full size have no full bed with a length of 8 feet, so a foot of plywood or long 2x4s is the base these days. Adhere to science on the back, and connect everything, and you should be fine.
However, we are not sure at this stage how much the large plywood cut in bed is supported. The distance between the wheels wells is only 42.9 inches. This is not enough for plywood to sit, so it should sit on the wheel. The upper parts of the well are flat, which is good to keep the panels stable. But it is not very wide, leaving a lot of the paper is not supported. This should not be important for the thicker plywood panels, but a quarter -inch plywood is flexible. The 4×8 thin panels can be superficial, too.

Ford has a similar setting on Maverick, which actually contains a slightly shorter bed compared to the list. However, the rolls of the wheel, the longest, broader, and closer to the bed. Ford also has a slit on the side to add the symptoms of the bed. From what we see in Configurator, Slate does not have the same type of support.
However, the ability there. And since this truck is electrical, there is more storage in the front. If the bed is occupied by the DIY project that deserves the weekend, you can still carry 12 packages in the foreground.
It will take some time before we can put the goods capabilities in this truck on the test. Slate expects production to start at the end of 2026. But by judging the numbers, it should be able to bet largely for its size.
