Niche The first UTE ever – U9 – in Melbourne a little more than one week ago, and now the Chinese car maker is not lost at any time in preparing the new biomed model for its local issuance later this year.
U9 is already undergoing a domestic test on the roads, where the planned system has been appointed to include distant sites such as Broome, the Penguin, Albani and Cockown.
MG MG Motor Australia says it is taking the test “to ensure MG U9 meets with the unique demands of Australian roads – whether in the city, bush or at the workplace.” The program is led by the internal engineering team in MG.
The main part of its plan to become a brand for the first three cars in Australia by the end of this decade, the U9 will be the first light commercial vehicle in MG when it appears for the first time in the fourth quarter of 2025, as a competitor to some of the country’s most popular models including Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux.

It will also serve as an alternative to the upcoming LDV Terron 9, which shares the same foundations as MG U9 and Maxus Star in China.
LDV started local tests for Terron 9 last year, focusing on recognizing the traffic brand, hot assistant, and other electronic drivers assistance systems in trying to better UTE for the Australian road conditions.
Terron 9 will arrive early in the twin MG under the skin, in the middle of this year.
Both Utes will be operated with a 2.5 -kilowatt diesel turbo diesel engine, and it will match the ranks of the class with a 3500 kg withdrawal capacity.
Other confirmed features of the local market U9 include a massage driver seat, “a flexible seat function to increase storage and comfort”, and JBL sound system.
Prices and full specifications will be detected closer to all.
MG U9 will be covered with the brand’s standard for 10 years/250,000 km (seven years/160,000 km for commercial buyers).
