What’s new in the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse?
After last year’s redesign, the Traverse adds a new High Country trim level that adds standard heated and cooled leather seats up front, a Bose audio system, and most of the optional features on other Traverse models. It is also equipped with the brand’s signature Super Cruise hands-free driving technology.
The newer Traverse has traditional SUV lines, and looks more aggressive in Z71 guise with red tow hooks, a skid plate, and a unique grille treatment.
Inside, the Traverse has a large 17.7-inch touchscreen that dominates the dashboard above a thin slice of climate vents and controls. The spacious center console below houses a wireless smartphone charging pad and some large cup holders. While the base Traverse is very nice inside, the RS model adds red and black panels that have a carbon fiber effect that we find attractive.
The Traverse is powered by a 328-hp 2.5-liter turbo-4 that needs to be wound down for best acceleration. The 8-speed automatic transmission does a reasonable job of ensuring shifts are smooth, quiet, and predictable. Optional all-wheel drive provides some all-weather traction, but requires moving up to the Z71 for higher ground clearance and a dual-clutch rear axle for improved traction and a hint of off-road ability. The 2025 Traverse is properly equipped, making it capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds.
The Traverse is a heavy vehicle that drives well, especially with small wheels. It gets even stiffer with the available 22-inchers, which are simply too big and lack the kind of sidewall needed to clear a path underneath.
Figure 23 mpg with front-wheel drive, or 21 mpg with all-wheel drive.
The Traverse has a large cabin with adequate space behind the third row, which can accommodate adults in a pinch. Front and middle row passengers will find good space everywhere.
All Traverses have good collision-avoidance technology as standard, although the automaker’s Super Cruise system is generally limited to higher trim levels. It’s worthwhile for anyone who plans to use their Traverse as a miler.
What is the price of the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse?
The base Traverse LT costs $41,995 and is well equipped. It has a large 17.7-inch touchscreen, built-in Google technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and heated cloth seats up front. All-wheel drive costs $2,000. It’s our pick, but the $48,995 Traverse Z71 has a more assertive SUV look and some upscale trim, while the $56,995 High Country leans heavily toward the richer model and the $58,795 Traverse RS has Dollars with lots of black embellishments.
Where is the 2025 Chevrolet Traverse manufactured?
(Lansing, Michigan).
